Maya Azucena is one of my best friends. She has a voice that will blow the roof off a house (or basement apartment or brownstone or church or the sky off the world, whatever…) Her heart is huge and we share a similar thread of goofiness. Maya is fond of telling me to get my own wave length since we seem to share a brain (she got her tattoo on the same forearm after me, but still claims I “got the idea from her.” Riiiight, Maya.) We had a lot of fun making this installment of the Living Room Sessions. I’ll say it in advance, told ya I have talented friends.
Some fun facts: Maya has a Grammy. Maya is on an upcoming tribute album produced by Steven Marley that might blow your mind. Maya has a show on October 15th at Galapagos called “Culture Bandit Soul” in which she weaves her songs in between monologues by Vanessa Hiddary. The truth is, I hosted one incarnation of the show and I’ve seen it, like, five times. It never loses it’s magic. You should come, too.
